Peka and Koro

Kia ora ,

Today we had a special person come in and talk about........

THEIR BOOK!

So we had a New Zealand arthur come in and talk about their books 

Her name is : Karyn Wilson 

She came  in and talked about her two books 

Her two books are : 

They look great!

Thanks to illustrator : Jessica Waters

Sadly Karyn only come in but that's Ok!

It doesn't matter but her illustrators are great

She read her book Peka and Koro to us 

After that she talked about the New Zealand animals in the book

It was really interesting learning about the different animals in New Zealand

And stuff about the animals life . 

After she talked abut the book she answered questions from us !

One of the questions were

How long it take you to make the book 

She said , about 9 months and that's with the illustration and all the hard work that goes into it . 

After we answered some questions 

We had a photo with her, 

And we said bye, Here ar the photos

Also she showed us the process of writing it

Plus its all made in NZ

Discovery or Invention

This is another week of home learning....

This week is ....................

Is maths a discovery or invention

So I did me and my friends Idea what we think ,

I liked this week home learning as, you had to deeply think about what you really thought (we both thought that same )

How many syllables can you count.

This week on novel study for one of my activities I have did ..................

SYLLABLES

If you don't know what a syllable is , a syllable is a word after in between every vowel sound you could clap and count how many 

So the activity was to find 2 words in chapter 7, 2 words with 2 syllables 

2 words with 3 syllables and 2 words with 4 syllables and Illustrate

I made a DLO of it . 

I found this easy as I clap after the vowel sound , 

My next steps for novel study is to go onto chapter 8 and 9

I really enjoyed it , I found it fun to do ,

The sad side

This is another week of home learning,
This week is a bit different ,
Yes its home learning, But its based off a photo

Today I will be doing a blog post based off a photo ( which is in the slide)

This was really fun and I enjoyed making it , 

I did a story based off the photo and made an animation which was super fun. TThe slide has all the information to see what the photo is and what I'm doing .

Why we shouldn't give people labels

Kia Ora, 

This week im doing my blog post about.............

SPEECHES

Last week was all about speeches

The 7/8s did it was a group with one teacher, 

and the 5/6s did it with another.

For my the finalists  

Abby, Mia and I got into the finals, 

Abby got 23/24

Mia got 21/24

I got 22.5/24

This blog will have a video of me presenting, I did my speech about .. Why we shouldn't give people labels. 

This year as I'm a year 7 , the year 7/8s if they win for there year they get to go to Ellesmere which is a place you go to with the winners from all the schools .  to present your speech 

So Abby, Mia and I have a chance to get in. 

Tomorrow we get to present in front of a lot of people , and a judge.

Birdy daycare/polygon land

Kia ora, 

This week is................ MATHS WEEK.

And today was the last day

The finished polygon land

So on wednesday I did a blog post of "polygon land" but In construction.

This is the finished product of polygon land, 

We thought about it and Abby and I , we made this school for birds

"Birdy daycare" but "polygon land" into one,

So its the playground of daycare for the birds.

This was hard as we thought it was nice before we painted it and it didn't turn out how it was going to go, But there is now glitter everywhere now, 

And we added a couple of things like

•    Zipline
• Improved the sand pit
• Added origami birds

But we are still happy.

This was a bit  challenging with all of the small little things.

Like the zipline, the lift

All the little things didn't stay on as much but in the end we are happy, we finished, and it turned out ok.

Today is another week of home learning .... And this week im doing a movie of a day in the life of us.

Well of what it would be about (a day in the life of us)

Polygon Land in construction !

Kia ora, 

This week is .... MATH WEEK!

The most of the class wasn't happy , when the teachers said math week, but after hearing the activities  everyone wants to do it now.

We got to choose out of 9 activities, we could go in small groups, Abby and I partnered up and wanted to do the playground, The playground activities : 

That was the instructions. 

This is the halfway and what we have done . 

We have to include polygons, so we called it polygon land.

We also have other great features as :

A jungle gym

A big secret (its a surprise) in the jungle gym.

Slide

Sand pit

Swings

Trampoline

Water fountain

You won't know the secret until its done as its a surprise.

But we will do another blog post when its finished

We have not finished so we would love some feedback!

The boy in the striped pjs.

This is my response of the boy in the striped pjs. 

What is the response ? You might ask ,

 This is about Bruno and the maid talking about his father and what his father has done to help her etc.

The book is great so far, 

I'm on chapter 7.
I haven't' written anything they said in the book, so no spoilers.

(This book is great because,

It doesn't go off track and sticks to what they are talking about in the story )

What's the photo

Hi!

Today I will be showing you my response to my reading work Chapter 3-4. 

Lately for our reading work we have been doing novel study and I did it a bit different , a way our teacher told us. 

(for the slides)

So I thought I would have a try and this is but, 

I the response I did was in the book " The boy in the striped Pajamas" 

This was the moment Bruno and Gretel looked out the window of there new house and saw people which you will see what they saw in the slide. 

But I won't say anything about it in case you want to go an see the movie or book

For the book i'm in the middle and its really good , and the story-line

 is sad but is a really good book,
