Summer Learning Journey (prep)

SAND SAUCER

                                                           Hey Everyone!!

Today is pet day!! And in the morning you can be in pears to make a 'Sand Saucer' or a 'Veggie Sculpture'. Julia ( my best friend) and I made a 'Sand Saucer' together.]

After finishing we finished early and Julia and I wanted to do the hobby horse race so we got to go outside and get some sticks and we went inside to get some cardboard  and draw a horse and we are now we have out horses, and the hobby horse race is at 11.00 so soon we will race . Im excited!!

Direct Speech

We have been doing direct speech. Direct speech is where you have to put the right punctuation ie speech marks, into a reported sentence. So this is what we did:

I had to make it into direct speech as was its reported line. We had a whole doc to do this for and make a direct speech doc. 

We have 6 tasks and 1 challenge. Most of the tasks have 5 paragraphs to fix and I'm up to task 4. I'm almost done. I found direct speech fun and easy to do. It's a challenge to do... but a lot of fun, because it's new. 

We have been learning about 66 and 99 which is this, " " 

We have to put a "!" because the speech marks close and a "," between as well 

Inquiry

I Have been doing inquiry on plastic in the oceans, and then you are finished you make a presentation about it

- I did a poster


And I have now finished and doing action learning

- action learning is showing what you have learned and take a part out of your learning that you did maybe on your poster and make it cool and make fun to do


I am doing a kahoot about my favourite part of my inquiry
I will update my blog when I finish all the kahoot and finish all the questions
So far I just finished the poster and i'm on the 3rd question of the action learning

BOOK CHARACTER DAY!

Hooked On Books!!!!!!!

This week we are doing hooked on books

Hooked on books is where you get a book in a  box and someone gets to open it and the teachers read it. After the teachers read it we do slides about the book and answer the questions on the slides , we did this , this year and last year. I really fun because some people get to open it, so far my sister has done it and Hunter and Mika. Every morning we come in and open a book this week 

And tomorrow is hooked on books but dress up day and you have to come at any book character

Sailing Recount

Lake Rua  

I was so nervous!!!

I got into class I was really nervous my heart
was beating out of my chest,  I waited with my friends
until the bell rang, all the students sat on the mat.
The teachers went over what you have to have , and the teachers said,
 “ year 7 and 8s go and wait at the gate. Year 5s and 6s. We waited at the gate for the teachers to
come and unlock it. We got on the bus and waited for the time to pass”
what I said on the bus was for the writing I did today I said “ today I went sailing
and went on the boat and red a book the end “  . Lake Rua I got more and more nervous by now
, we got out and walked to the to grass. The teacher put down a tarpaulin to sit on
and put the bags down.

After that we sat down for the people to tell us what to do and other stuff like that.
After telling us we have to put up the boat and Julia , bree and I was in a team,
we  first got the boat we wanted ad got the sail and all things we needed after we finished
the boat the people
showed us how to use it, I didn't really know how to for me it was
confusing but I got the hang of it, I was happy that I got the hang of it

It was time for morning tea so we got to eat some food and have some time to relax,
but I knew after we ate we had to go on the boats because the people was taking the boats
to the dock where you get on , but first we finished eating and went to go and put on life jackets ,
we went to the docks and started to get on I was soooo nervous now but it was our groups time ,
Julia went on first she was fine , then bree and me I was so scared but
I got on and couldn't turn but I ended up back at the docks somehow.
Other groups went on and it was my time again I did It  I turned!!
I was so happy and went back.

It was time for lunch, I ate some food and we had a play.
It was really funny Toby kicked the ball into the water and went away and couldn't find it.
 We went again the wind was really picking , I went on first and it was so windy I could turn so the
people in the boats had to help me I almost fell in but, the way back My boat got stuck in the motor
and I kept going in circles and the boat started rocking and nearly fell in the water , I felt the water
touch my hand and it was so cold

I got back, after that I didn't go on again, other people fell in after that
, I got wet I went back with my friends and got changed into warm clothes ad packed my bags.
And we got to play until all the people got back ad changed, Grace said thank you and went o the bus
back to school, The day was fun a new thing that I was proud of trying.

Novel Study

So we have been doing Novel Study, and  Novel Study is a book you get and read it and answer all the questions in a Google slide,

Athletics Recount

Inquiry

The Rimu classroom has been doing this inquiry based on plastic, rubbish, and pollution. 

And I'm doing mine on plastic in the oceans, and I wanted to share some of my information what I have learned in the inquiry. We have sub-questions and my sub-question is. Why do animals eat plastic  : scientists  have shown that things under the water to sea animals look like food that's how they eat plastic. more than 200 million animals have swallowed the plastic that looked like food, and under the water, people say that the food smells like food because food has been in it so they think it is . turtles mistake plastic clear bags for jellyfish because they think it's food to eat . The biggest one is seabirds eating plastic and mistaking it as food because they are so hungry it started getting so bad they made glass because all the animals ate it , no animals have become extinct from the plastic so that's good. 500 million Americans use straws every day and that's only a day just a day 500 million it would fill up 125 school buses with every straw. why do all the animals have to go through this

I feel sad about this because the animals are dying because of our mistakes. Ï think this should stop do I know how I don't but hopefully one day this will stop. Tell me what you think about the animals dying because of plastic, do you think we should stop this, please tell me in the comments

WRITING

To get better at our writing the teacher has made us character slide so we can make our story better, we got this thing what you push and it makes a character for you can so this is mine 

first, the one that you push the button and it makes you a character

Shrek is very aggressive, judgemental, she hates everyone and her teeth are very yellow and fuzzy. She is very foolish and bad mannered. Shrek is greedy, harsh and bossy. She lives in Turkey. she moves stubbled and eagerly. If anyone talks to her she punches them in the face. her hair is very dirty and she smells like she hasn't showered in a year. She wears old dirty bags. She has a pet goat. her hobbies are swimming in swamps

after that, you have to make a setting and make up your own character

and here's my story

Walking the street in turkey smelling rotten egg smell, and the roasting sun on my shoulder. I stubbornly walked into the shade. The wind hollowed dagging the rotten smell closer. Her grumpy voice hollowed into the wind, she dragged her leg across the road, she got across and sat grumpily and stubbornly, waiting for the time to go past.

So this week we have been doing writing and it's about an ice palace 
we had to make ideas about like ice and snow
after that, we said about what the ice palace looks

What's worked well for me this term : I think that Trying new things this term because if I didn’t try new
things I wouldn't of known that I was good at it. And trying new things has

What Am I Proud Of This Term : For my maths at the start of the year is was kinda bad so

Giving my maths, reading and writing my hardest has payed off for me. And my reading and writing was
bad but now it's better because trying my hardest and giving it my everything

Are there some things that haven't gone well for me: Though I try new thing they don't always work out I
fail all the time. But I get back up and try again and again. My dyslexia is annoying because when I read
my writing without my glasses the words go everywhere and my writing doesn't make sense so I have
to edit my writing sooooooooo much

What challenged me and how I worked through it  : So I get really annoyed sometimes Causes I just
don't know the answer and I don't get it but I try again and try to work it out but sometimes it doesn't
work out

What is my focus for me next term: my focus is to get better at all my reading, writing and maths
and go up s group for them

Maths!!!

so for maths, we have been doing Geometry, the funny thing is that I just did a test for Geometry

Writing!!!

So for writing, we do poetry. We call it Poetry Anthology. You can do different types of poetry so on the picture I did haiku. You can do any type of poetry. What I'm telling you about is what I did. Acrostic poetry and shape/concrete Poem.
shape/concrete Poem is a poem you make a shape out of. Acrostic poetry is a word like

M or something like that you make words out of the word if that makes sense. and Haiku is you have to do Line 1 - 5 syllables line and you have to do more and more .- 5 Syllables

Newspaper Report!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 So this week we have been doing newspaper reports. On Monday we did newspapers so we come up with a report so my one is "Yaldhurst Model School on lockdown"

so we chose a newspaper report and put the newspaper report in it. It has to be done by next week and we are going to put it together to make a big newspaper. Please, can I have feedback to make my report better THANKS!!!!!!  As well can you please me give me feedback on how my report is looking and how I can make it better

Hooked on books

Non Chronological Report

LO: Learning about Non Chronological Report, and how write them well.
For the past 2 weeks we have been writing a Non- Chronological Report, So just a report.
I have learnt how to write a report because i'm used to doing a story.
I have learnt you have to do a Subheading and that is I'm doing about a shoe so say
PRICE and say the price under it. What I have found difficult is that you have to do a lot a lot lot of editing.  I have improve on my present tense.

Now the writing :

the spinning light

James shinzer designed the shoe and asked the baker family to try it out. It was designed in 2011

The  bakers are trying it out for 2 weeks lets see what the shoe is and what there liked about it  at the end!

Style

The shoe lights up so does the laces. It is waterproof and so are the laces.  It floats as well an you can choose to go fast slow or not fast. The light can go out so if the buyer needs to charge it to make it go again. You know when you going fast because is will be a loud  Saying “stop warning stop going too fast stop”

Materials

This shoe is made out of leather. The lights in the shoe go rainbow and neon. The floating is because it's like a hoverboard but a floating one. You have a controller to go fast and slow

If the controllers dies charge it up with the same charger to charge up the lights and the shoe to make it fly!!

Price

This shoe is a bit pricey. It is $155 for adults and kids are &125. But it comes with the charger and the controller ipad. As well this shoe has a Neon lights and other brands don't AND it floats. People who buy these shoes can get it in different colours and shapes. Buyers who wants it can get into size kids and adults.Buyer that want the  shoe can fly. Who ever wants the spinning light can control it. The controller ipad is waterproof and goes in whatever colour the person who wants can choose the colour. And connects to the shoe but the buyer can take it off if the user wants.

The baker family found it was fun and only sometimes to charge it up to fly,lights,waterproof and controller .Over all they say it was a really nice shoe to fly in and the lights are so cool it's like having a dance party in the shoes . I love to fly in it. The buyer can swim in it and go fast when swimming and fly like the birds high in the sky. Not so high pretty high tho .Higher like a one story house.

Everyone that tried it was happy about it because there is no technology like this.
