Whitebait studios PART 2!

 Hello Bloggers,

This is part to my blog post.

The first part was of doing the first day only some of the Year 8s went to whitebait to record the song. This time all of them went including our teacher Miss Rennell.

We had a big tour of everything and people working and we got to see the music video and the proper video not in the music video.

This time was super super cool and interesting. I also made a poster for Emma, Matt and Mike. All the people who helped us make the video the best video ever at Yaldhurst Model School.

This was such a cool progress and so cool to watch how everything is made and all the filming, also and the things behind the scenes.

Here are some photos.

I hope you enjoyed!

It was super fun and super good, this was amazing and we couldn't have made it without Emma, Emma also gets something on the final assembly, but shhh don't tell her.

Have you been to whitebait studios?

Have you ever made a Year 8 video?

Will you be able to make one?

Until next time

Whitebait studios part 1!

 Hello bloggers!

As you may know i'm a Year 8. At the end of Year 8 you get to make a Year 8 video, which we are doing. Last year they just were given an iPad and a certain time and just to make it. But this year our amazing teacher Miss Rennell got us Emma from whitebait studios. I am very very grateful for this opportunity and I think I can speak on behalf of the Year 8s too. I am most certainly grateful we got to do this and still doing the video in the making (: Whitebait studios is where brain buster and what now is.

I won't spoil it too much but this year we got a song and rewrote the lyrics, also only 5 of the Year 8s including me went to whitebait studios and sang the song, the song that we rewrote the lyrics to. We are very very grateful. Then we get to go back on December 3rd and all the Year 8s get to go and edit the video we made (Part 2 will be after all of us go to whitebait studios) but for now I will be talking about yesterday. Yesterday 5 of us went to whitebait studios. We got to sing the song, Mike was helping us and doing the autotune. He was helping make the song the best it can be.

It was amazing and such a great experience, I bet all the Year 8s from last year are very jealous of what we are making this year. But a massive thanks to Emma the person that has helped us through the whole way, she helped us think of things, helped us filming and singing the song. Thanks to Matt her husband that did all the filming today. Thanks to Mike that helped us sing the song. It was so amazing and I would love to do it amazing if I could do it again..

Here are the photos....

Have you ever watched What now?
Do your school have a Year 8 video?
Have you ever been or seen Whitebait studios?
Until next time.
Which will be part 2.

Soft balls aren't soft...

Hello Bloggers,

For the past couple of weeks we have been doing soft ball.

So today I thought I would talk about Soft ball.

Firstly what we have done, we have practised like all the basics, we haven't played a real game yet though, but we have been practicing like catch being fielders and hitting the soft ball with a bat.

But I will talk about our most frequently one. Stella, Stella doesn't teach us all the it switches between people, but we played a mini game not like the actual games. Also we are just learning so we haven't done like the real stuff yet but are very good so far.

For the game there is a square and then you have to run to the bases after you hit the ball with a bat, and if your a fielder you wait until the hitter hits and then get the ball and throw it to the person on one of the bases. I was a fielder first, I didn't go on the diamond until the end bit.

As confusing as it is it was surprisingly easy.

Here are some tips!

I thought it was so much fun and a good experience and we do it every Monday.  I think that if you have the chance make sure you do it!

Thats it from me!

A HIPPO IN A BAG OF CHIPS!?!

Hello Bloggers,

On Tuesday we have Miss Morgan to come and teach us Cybersmart,

its the 3rd session and we are learning about : How To evaluate Media.

Firstly we watched and discussed a video about a hippo in a bag of chips. Yes that's right CHIPS... Obviously its fake!

Then we looked at the advertisement about a model in front of a beach for a snickers ad and pointed out the things that were photoshopped.

Then we went onto a place to get quotes, I chose Walt Disney and found the quote and researched to see if the quote is actually come them.

This is where its from Brainy Quotes

And this was the quote

Mickey Mouse is, to me, a symbol of independence. He was a means to an end. - Walt Disney

Now we made a background for it and here it is. Mickey Mouse the lunatic

I hope you enjoyed, I certainly did it was a super fun task, to learn about to know what's fake etc.

Do you know how things can be fake on the internet?

Do you know how to figure out if its unsafe or unreal?

Did you like my Mickey Mouse the lunatic?

7 Facts about Sweden

 Namaste Bloggers,

Today I will be talking bout Sweden and doing facts about that, in my, last blog post I said about on FLOW fundamentals, you have the eleven things you must make creative, also for the learning tasks the (FLOW basics) you have to do a learning blog post,

So I thought that I would just pick one of the things that I want to learn about more in the eleven different things for the Fundamentals, and I chose Sweden, and I will be doing a canva, which is linked below under the Canva if you want to check out Canva yourself!

I will be doing some facts about Sweden, I will put where I got the  information down under where the link to Canva is.

Anyways, he is the DLO:

What can we do with eleven random things?

Kia Ora,

This Term we have been focused on brain training, so basically we have this spreadsheet, it has all these things we have to finish each week before friday, so there is maths on there, spelling and reading all sorts of things, we have to do all of the work before school starts.

There is the flow basics which is just all the things we need to complete, and then there is flow fundamental, this is each week we have a poster and there is like the prime number of the week and all different things, and then in our scrap books we recreate but not just do it word for word, you do so you say the prime number of the week is 7 you could put the meaning of a prime number.

That's what the blog post is going to be about, it's going to be about the poster and then my recreation of it, I will show the poster and then the picture.

I will be showing you the spreadsheet so its not too confusing:

And then the fundamentals is just like, a box says whats the prime number of the week and then you put 7,

Anyways, here's the picture of the poster that our teacher made:

Here's mine:

This week we just started with this, its a bit interesting and new to everyone in the class, I think it could like a bit hard doing it all in the morning and also having other work to do, but I think we all can do it.
I hope you enjoyed,
I will have another blog about this but the same next week.

Do you know about flow?
If so what do you thinks flow?
Have you ever been in flow?

How To Hammer A Nail ~ Home Learning Term 4 - Week 1

 Kia Ora,

Today I will be doing Home Learning for Term 4, we haven't done Home Learning for while actually, the Home Learning is optional but our teacher remmonds it, whoever does the most until the end of the year wins a prize,

But what the Home Learning is based off this term is... Old fashion Skills, there is 40 things we need to relearn to learn and make a blog post about, for example my one I will be doing today is: How to Hammer a Nail, but there is like how to introduce yourself and how to make cheques and all that type of stuff, I chose to do a animation and how you how to hammer a nail in wood.

The List is on Rimu Site but I don't know if I'm allowed to show you that.

I will be making a blog post about one of them each week for the rest of Term 4, some people might do t everyday or every second day, but I don't have the most time after school I will still try to do at least one.

It Was super fun to do this, I think it was a good way to teach others and yourself, I already knew how to do this but, others might not and you might know how to hammer too but its good to relearn, I will have to learn myself for some of the different things in the list... Enjoy!

Do you know how to Hammer a Nail?

If so who taught you?

What things do you want to learn about but just haven't got the time to do it yet?

Until Next time BYE!

Arthur's Pass Camp

                                                                              Kia Ora,

Today I will be showing you my camp experience, for the class we had to make episodes, but since I was in student summit and others were too, we couldn't do all the different blog posts, so I made a DLO with all of the activities and photos.

As well what I didn't explain in the slide deck, that we got campers cash, basically our Teacher designed this pieces of paper and had the word campers cash, you got them when you did something like, try something new and do all different types of things, and the parent helpers gave some ot too, and then we got to collect them, and then today 23rd september we do a auction on all different types of toys or things that you can buy with your campers cash,  Here's the slidedeck .

Overall, My feelings for camp: I think that camp was so much camp, last years camp I went to Wellington, this camp was so different, in wellington it was more relaxed I guess I could say but not in a bad way, at Arthur's Pass we did so many cool and fun activities (We did in Wellington too) but Arthur's Pass was so much outdoor, and was super good. It was one of the best camps ever I have been to.

Have you been to Arthur's Pass?

Have you been on camp?

What's your favourite camp you have been to? Why?

If you got to chose to go to anywhere for a camp where would you go? Why?

Until next time,

Online Student Summit?!

Kia Ora,
Today was Student Summit,
It was online!
If you don't know student summit is where you get a website and present it to others, and normally do it at South Hornby School, but this year was on a google meet,
We still had teams presenting but all the other students get to go on the google meet links and join their meets and go o the website as they explain.

I got to present we my friend Abby.
Then I got to join 3 others, so I will be explaining the sessions I got to do.
Here it is:

Session one:
Pear Deck
It was sort of confusing, it was because my microphone was glitching I little bit so it glitched out some of them, so I didn't get to finish the slide, the only thing I got to do was make the front cover and then a second slide with only a little bit, pear deck is just a add on, on google slides, So this one I won't be inserting anything

Session two:
Easel.ly (My presentation)
I think my one went well, I think that it was pretty good because most of the people got the hang of it and didn't get too confused but some other people did too, and then some people had issues with the their microphone.

Session three:
Miro
I think this one was better than the first because I actually get to mke it, but they had to go because they went a bit off track and then they couldn't finish because the time ran out.
They explained it well with the time being.
But here is it

Session four:
Biteable (Last session)
This one was super good, although some people were singing and not doing ht they were told, I have used biteable a lot and I used it for my website last year for the Student Summit, and I chose to see if there is anything else I could learn about it, I made a biteable about otters because they said make it about anything you want to.
Here it is
Overall thoughts:
I think this year was very different, it was online, it was hard to explain and like helping and not being able to explain in real life, it was a challenge but a good challenge to do, it helped me with if this happened again say we went into lockdown, it helped me with presenting if I needed to.
Overall it was different but super fun to have a go at.

Until next time,
Bye.

I have a dream...

Namaste bloggers,
This month is speeches in Rimu...
When I heard we were going to do speeches, I was excited, but then I was worried but I didn't know of any topics to do.

In rimu before we started to do planning/practicing the speeches, we got to do an activity (which is the will be the DLO below)
The activity is to do a picture of ourselves in a google drawing and then go into our mental toughness slide, in that slide there was lots of headings ( 5 mental toughness toolkits) , and then the picture that we made went into the middle, then we put the 5 mental toughness tool kit headings and went words that we thought went with it and things we want to achieve.
The DLO is called I have a dream because of the speech that Martin Luther presented in 1963.
The 5 mental toughness toolkits are
Positive thinking
Attention control
Self Awareness
Goal setting
Anxiety control
Here is the DLO:
In this DLO I was thinking about my performance last year and how I can take it to the next step up and be better and stronger than last year.
The hardest thing for me in speeches are being confident and talking loud and clear plus choosing a good entertaining topic, I normally go fast and quiet, but this year I will try and give it my all as its my last year.
The easiest is probably writing it, although it can get hard sometimes writing, it depends on the topic, because if you do like a very big topic its hard to some of it down.

Have you ever wrote/present a speech? If so how did it go?
Do you have any tips?
What do think the easiest and hardest thing is when writing/presenting a speech?

If you are writing a comment on here, here is a helpful sentence starters
Positive - I loved this because.....
Thoughtful - This reminded me of when.....
Helpful - Maybe you could....

Until next time...

A voice recording on a comment!?!?!?!??!

Namaste Bloggers,

Last Tuesday we moved onto the next lesson in the Uru Manuka sessions,
This was about commenting on others blogs...

My group the Confident one, we did learning how to put a URL on a comment.... The link takes you to a video or voice recording...

So in this blog post I will be showing you how to do that...
This week lesson was working individually and not in a group this time.

This took a few times for me to do, the first time it didn't work so well, and the second time it worked out perfectly and anyone can click the link and go and listen to my voice recording.....

We also could do a video but I will be explaining today how to do the voice recording one instead of the screencastify.

Here is my DLO:
Thanks for watching!

Will you put a voice recording on this blog post?
Did you learn something new?
Did you like it?

Until next time,

DO you like Mysteries?

Then we had to write a Mystery, New report or poem,
You had to use as many words of that grid as possible, and the limit of words were 150 and there was 28 words.
Soo... I am asking you, yes you to please vote on whos you think is the best, you have to pick one out of 3, so one from Poems you think was the best, one from Mysteries was the best and one from new reports

Do you know how to have Resilience?

What is RESILIENCE?

Namaste bloggers,
Today I will be showing you what resilience is,
The lesson we had on resilience was very easy to understand and remember, our teacher got a pen and snapped it in half, then got the spring stretched it out, it went back to sort of the original shape but not all the way.

Here is a DLO on what resilience is:

Thanks for watching/reading,
Here is the link to the video.
I chose this video because it was about bouncing back I personally think that bouncing back is having resilience, I like the quote too because it shows how resilience is and how it can be in lots of differents ways.
I hope you enjoyed this and I hope you learnt something new about resilience.
Did you learn something new about resilience?
How would you explain resilience?
What's a way YOU could have resilience?
Until next time.....
Goodbye.

Does it have a question?

Kia Ora,
For the last 2 Tuesdays we have been learning about how to make quality blog comments,
We went to the Uru Manuka Website and clicked on lesson one, there is different activities for different people. I am in the confident one and there are two others on the site.
I am in a group with Mia & Abby...

We learnt about: Learning, Impact, Editing, Layout and then rewriting comments that don't have all the Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful and improving it.
We also have a checklist, you check off in the box next to the activity, the activtes are the ones in the slides that we have to do.
We watched lots of videos that relate to the activity.

Here is some of the comments we improved as a group:
This was one of four comments that we made,
The reflection: I think this activity was super fun to do and learn more about more to improve the comments, adding more information into them as well as the positive, thoughtful and helpful, it was a good because we got to refresh our minds on the comments and remember some of the things we might have forgotten, I liked improving the comments because it fun to see the differences in our improved comments to the original.

Did you like our improved comment?
Until next time.....

The Final Matariki Task

Kia Ora,
This is my last activity of Matariki tasks,
For this task on our class website had facts we got a piece of paper and tried to find all 9 of them, after that we made a quiz either on Kahoot or Google forms (Quiz style) on all of the facts that we found,
Overall this Matariki activity has been super fun

Here is the sheet
Here is the LINK to my Kahoot,

Overall this was super fun and super cool, I think if you wanted to learn something new and don't know about the Matariki you should go and give it a try its super cool to learn about because all of the facts are super fun to learn, It's interesting to learn how it was back then and how everything has changed then to now

Until next time,
Bye

Matariki Maths

Kia Ora,
Today I will be showing you the Matariki Maths activity,
The activity was simplifying fractions and the answer you get is a colour and there is a star which has fractions on it and then you colour in the fraction of that colour

I found this activity fun to do but hard at the same, I did the easy one at the start which wasn't too bad and my Teacher Miss Rennell wanted me and my friend to skip the easiest one and go straight to the hard one, which wasn't like too bad it was pretty average.

Here is the DLO :

I hope you enjoyed,
I found this activity super fun and I have one more activity to do before I'm finished which the last one is one of the best ones yet, So wait for that

Here is where you get the digital one : LINK
Do you know how to Simplifying fractions?
Did you learn anything?

Run run RUN CROSS COUNTRY!

Kia ora,
Today I will be sharing with you the cross country that our whole school did on Tuesday.
The whole school from new entrants to the year 8,
Year 5 and 6s did 2km at different times, the year 7 and 8s went at the same time for the 3 km run, they get scored different on the year group but we didn't have enough time for the year 7 and 8s to go at different times,

In my year, Year 8 I came second over all which I am happy with,
Here is the photos from the run:

Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed,

Over all I am happy where I got placed, I tried my best and that's all that matters, I think for the last year of cross country for me and the year 8 was very good and fun to have another go at unless we do cross country at high school. The run was fun it was only around about 3.1 km like I said before.

Until next time,
Bye

Matariki Kites

Kia Ora,
Today for the Matariki activity I will be showing you the Matariki kites,
On Matariki time kite flying was fun thing for everyone to do, they loved to fly their kites around that time, but the kites were very big and took about 7 serval men to just get it into the air,

I used a online site with the stories about it and the questions which I will link at the bottom.

Here is my DLO  :

Thanks for watching/Reading I hope you enjoyed or learnt something new,

I found this activity very fun to learn about, all the interesting facts, how it was back then and how the designs have changed so much, I think this is a great thing to learn about.

Here is all of the websites.

The 9 Stars!

Kia Ora,
Today For the Matariki Activity,
This Activity was the 9 stars, you had to read about them and then either go on paper and decorate them based on what they mean, For example,

Taygeta the star means salt water etc and it goes on so I had to decorate it like the sea, I did the sea and the trees around it because it means nature too,

Where I got all the information will be linked under the pictures.

My DLO
I hope you enjoyed, I certainly did.

I found this super fun and peaceful just to colour in based on the stars meanings, I think if you have time to do this at home or if your doing it at school I think this is a great activity to do,

This LINK

Until next time,
Bye.

The Celebration Of Matariki

Kia Ora,
Today I will be showing you about the Celebration of Matariki,

For our school work we have been doing learning about the Celebration of Matariki,
I have made A DLO of what I have learnt about from a website I used online to learn about it, which I will link after.

On the DLO you had to do 5 things you have learnt from the website that was linked, plus answer some questions on a sheet.

Here is my DLO

Thanks for reading/watching
I hope you enjoyed,

I know this activity fun and interesting to learn about, there is lots more to learn about and there will be 4 more blog posts to come from me for this activity,

Here is where I got my facts from Link 1 Link 2
There are two links because one website is a more detailed website and the others one is like a more understanding website, The Link 1 is the understanding one and the second link the more advanced website,

Thanks for watching

Until next time,

Students Best Subjects!

Kia Ora,
Today I will be showing you students in my class best subjects but that's not what this is about, this is about the information I got for this chart.
I got all my information from a sign in online, lately we have been doing lots of different things to sign in, meaning like today in your box with your number you the sign in activity, Today was to write the subject you are best at,

So I got all the data from today to make this chart,
I went and put all the different titles of what the students wrote and then I counted who went under it, and we followed a video on how to do it, the video will be linked.

Here is my Chart:

Thanks for watching/reading

My Reflection :
I found this easy and fun to make, plus this was super easy to make, I think this is simple and basically anyone can do it with any information they can gather, I think if you have a data like this maybe you can have a go at it and tell me in the comments if you have done it and ill look at it.

This is the video:

Have you ever made a chart?
Have you made a chart in google sheets?
If so what was the information based it on?

Until next time,
Bye!

Textlies and design.....

Kia Ora,
Today I am posting about technology,
On the last few Tuesday we couldn't go to Lincoln, which is where our tech is for YMS, so we had some of the Lincoln teachers come to YMS.
But then we got to go back to Lincoln so this is my blog post about Tech which we had yesterday
2nd June.
I will be making a biteable to show you how it for me,
and how things went and what class i'm in.

So here it is.....
Thanks for watching/reading,
I hope you enjoyed and if you can any questions make sure to comment.

I think tech was super fun and interesting but its sad that we only have 1 more session in the class we are in because of what the lockdown did.

Do you go to Tech?
If you go and went to tech how was it?

Until next time

Basic but IMPORTANT rules at school

Kia Ora.
Welcome back to my first blog post at school.
Today I will be blogging some basic rules at school that we all have to follow at school.
These rules are pretty easy to follow and makes school a lot different.

I think these rules are pretty easy for me and I think these rules are different than I thought but some like similar,
I will be making a biteable of the rules and only include the important and basic ones.
I chose to do a biteable instead of a google slide so do more different things other than basic google slides all the time.

Here it is:

School rules. on Biteable.
 I hope you enjoyed,

My reflection :
I think these rules are very easy for me to follow and aren't that hard,
But some of them you just need to remind people we still have the virus going on and
we need to be clean and safe,
I think that these rules helps the school keep clean and do no will have germs when they come into the room or go out.
We have lots of other rules but here are the basic and important ones

Are you back at school?
Are you enjoying school?
Do you have any similar rules like my school?

95 % water

Kia Ora,
Today I will be blogging one of my writings for writing, well the writing activity,
My class has a new writing workbook,
We have had a few days at it so now I am blogging about it
For the workbook, there are photos based on the activity so you either scroll down or click on the photo,
Then there are 3 parts you have to do,
Part 1 watch the video linked
Part 2 answer the questions
Part 3 you have a choice so a creative writing based on what you have watched or normally its like a craft you do on it.
So I did jellyfish one and I will be sharing Part 3.
The activity:

Fun fact: Jellyfish are 95% water
I did a painting of a jellyfish with string and water colour
Here it is:
I know its not the best but its hard to work with string and watercolour
Thanks for staying, I hope you enjoyed

I found this fun and it was very hard to work with the watercolour but in the end it
kind of worked, I went over it with a brush after I used the string too to make it more and more colourful, but I used the string most of it,

Do you like jellyfish?
Have you ever tried paint and string to make art?
What did it turn out like?
Until next time,
Grace

Scintillating ??

Hello Bloggers!
Today I will be doing another activity from the can do's list
Today I chose to do some simply but most fun and something cool to do.
The activity is
So I will be doing this on a DLO google drawing, because I can't really write them on a mirror and the only white board is a little too small, so I thought I would do something else instead of actually doing it.

Here it is:

Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed

I found this fun to make and google the meaning and learn new words,
I think this is very fun to learn new words as you don't have anything to do its always fun to learn new things

Do you know any of these words?
Is any of these words new to you?
Do you know the meaning of any of these words?

My Ups and Downs

Hello Bloggers!
Today I am going to blogging about another can do
This time I got to make my own can do,
So I wanted to do the ups and downs in lockdown!
So here's the activity
I thought long and hard what to do, and didn't feel like doing the other ones,
So I thought that I would come up with my own, and if its my mine I should like it.
So here is my biteable about the ups and downs
Here is the biteable:

Cats in a act

Kia Ora.
How are you?
So as you know New Zealand is in Level 4, so we have to stay at home,
I hope you all are safe and washing your hands, but this blog post isn't going to be about that,
As we have been in lockdown we have done writing, I will be sharing my writing with you.

I hope you all enjoy and I hope it gets your mind off of this......
Here it is:

Reflection:
I think this was my best writing out the 3 we day in the 3 days, I think this was super fun just to do a long write because its one of my favorite things, and we haven't done it in a while. I think it was good just to write and not doing all the other stuff, we had to get it over 250 words, and use a photo to go off of.

Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed,
If you were me what would you change?
Did you like the story?
 Thanks
Bye
